Translation Notes: The name of the AU ward and districts were voted on by members of the RPG. Because of the nature of the RPG, it was decided that the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins would be used. Kouman-ku reflects the Japanese word for Pride.
1 Gekido-jo 激怒所 (Wrath)Art by *atomhawk
Keywords: Poor, Unsafe, Drugs, Red Light, Old Town Located on the southwestern side of Kouman-ku, Gekido-jo is the part of town where people go out of their way to avoid. It is dirty, run down, forgotten by authority, and overridden by crime, gangs, and drugs. The roads are in bad shape, but in no hurry to be fixed. The buildings are falling apart, most not living up to building standards. Burned out street lights darken the dangerous alleyways. Windows are busted out and forgotten. Glass and debris litter the streets. Stray animals run rampant. Homeless people crowd the street, fighting to survive another day. Drug dealers can be found around every corner. Gekido-jo is home to the Red Light section of Kouman-ku. Bars, clubs, sleazy hotels line the streets along with various food stands. It is home to a large food alley that rivals the famous one located in Shinjuku. There’s an orphanage in the area that is almost forgotten by the rest of Tokyo. Gekido-jo is also home to one of the largest prostitution areas of Tokyo. The area is called Old Town by the residents, and it is almost void of cops The majority of the housing found in Gekido-jo are apartments. The apartments are packed close together and are not kept up well. Business owners live in apartments located above their shop. Narrow alleyways weave between buildings, often leading to large vacant spots behind buildings, out of view from the public eye. In some of the particularly bad streets, many of the apartments are abandoned and home to squatters whom spend their day doing drugs. As you travel towards the outskirts of Gekido-jo, and towards the edge of the district, the area is still run down, but crime is fewer. Small houses reflecting the poor class freckle the outskirts. |
2 Boushoku-jo 暴食所 (Gluttony)Art by *atomhawk
Keywords: Poor, Unsafe, Business The northwestern region of Kouman-ku is the district of Boushoku-jo. Similarly to its brother district Gekido-jo, Boushoku-jo is stricken with poverty. Crime is frequent as gangs have the run of the district. Fights are common in the alleyways, and most people travel in groups. Drugs aren't as common as they are in Gekido-jo, but the Black Market has a more prominent stance. The Black Market deals in many trades, including weapons and human slaves. Brothels are also common to this area. Despite being an unsafe district, Boushoku-jo still manages the name of a business districts. Many shops line the streets, and several markets can be found throughout the district. The most popular of the markets is the fish market, which boasts having the best fish in Kouman-ku. The fish, as well as many of the shops products are shipped to the district via the river that frames the northwestern border. Housing in Boushoku-jo is mostly, if not all, apartments. The apartments are cheap in price, and their appearance reflects it. The buildings are falling apart, forgotten by the landlords, and manipulated by graffiti. Neighborhood watch programs are useless. Vacant, rundown apartments play host to homeless people and runaways. Gangs claim ownership to many of the apartments. |
